Costs and fees
What are the costs of maternity care?
The Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZA) annually assesses the costs of maternity care and the amount of your contribution. The column Totaal, in the diagram below shows what the different parts of the basic maternity care costs.
Table: rates for maternity care in 2016
costs
* We will make a declaration of the costs at your insurance company
** You can be reimbursed through additional insurance
Your basic health insurance will cover most of these costs (see column Basisverzekering).
You only pay only a contribution of € 4.20 per hour for maternity care. If you have additional insurance, you can be reimbursed for this contribution.
Additional insurance and additional reimbursements
If you have additional insurance, you can get a (partial) reimbursement for maternity expenses that are not reimbursed by default. For example:
• your contribution;
• your maternity package;
• the costs of lactation care and flasks;
• Delayed maternity care.
We recommend you check your policy and your policy conditions in advance, so you do not get any unexpected costs.
Who receives the invoice?
The bill for the basic maternity care, we always send to your insurer.
Depending on the terms and conditions your insurer has in regards to maternity care, you may receive your contribution bill either from us, from your insurer, or not at all. Your contribution may be reimbursed, but only if you are additionally insured.
The bill for lactation care we send to you. You can only claim (part of) these costs with your insurer if you have additional healthcare insurance.
